First Impressions
I’ve probably seen tens of portfolios in the last couple of weeks, and I am no portfolio expert but reviewing Shantell Martin's website was really interesting, Her landing page clearly communicates what to expect and uses her signature design lines to interact and engage with visitors. It really was just a fun overall experience. I particularly appreciated her bold image of her, which reinforced her identity as the face behind the amazing projects she showed. It showed the power of identity and taking ownership.
I find Julie Campbell’s website beautifully done because you immediately understand her visual language and where she draws inspiration. It is vibrant, fun, and very colorful. A true reflection of her creative approach.
Annika Hasteen’s website, on the other hand, had a more formal and distinct feel, with a subtle banner around the edges that added a personal touch. This balance between structure and personality gave the site a unique character while clearly representing her interests and work.
My key takeaway from this analysis is the importance of being intentional about what you represent in your portfolio. Your portfolio should be a reflection of who you are as a designer because it communicates your design language without you having to say a word.
